Festival črk - tiporenesansa 1st Festival of Letters

Workshop

August 28th - September 3rd, 2011

tipoRenesansa - designing typeface

Mentors: Tomato Košir, Aljaž Vindiš

9 a.m. - 7 p.m.

The participants of the international workshop will create fonts that will be mainly intended for use in book publishing. The intention of the workshop is not to produce a font that could be used on our computers, for you need at least a year of hard work to obtain such a result. The participants will develop their idea and under the watchful eyes of their mentors plan their first digital sketches. They will learn to use font designing software and learn about an entire array of technical characteristics that need to be taken into account when designing fonts.

The mentor will select one of the fonts developed at the workshop and pass it on to the festival organizer - studio TipoRenesansa – who will manufacture the letters in cherry or pear wood and add it to the old printing shop fund.

The participants will present their results in the form of a poster at the exhibition.
