Ornamental letters

During the workshop the participants will learn how to use tendrils and other ways to ornament initial letters. They will then engrave theirs into linoleum and press it together with the text, composed of lead type, on the letterpress.
Participants of Entirely my Book workshop series will use their initial in the following days to ornament their text, composed of lead type, and press the entire composition on paper, handmade by them.

About the mentor: Born in 1968 in Ljubljana. He studied caligraphy and carving of letters in 1991/1992 in Kristoffel Boudens studio in Antwerpen, Belgium. After his return to Slovenia he worked for a year with the stonecutting master Boris Udovč from Naklo near Kranj. In 2000 he graduated from art history (with caligraphic analysis of the medieval Bible) and library sciences. He worked as a librarian in the library of Slovene Ethnographioc Museum from 2000-2006. He has cofounded Zadruga studio. He has been working on reviving letterpress technique since 2009.
